A Lamborghini Urus Performante joins the Dubai Police: 666 CV to catch the bad guys

Law enforcement agencies in several states are becoming a good catalogue of great cars, the kind that are not usually found in police fleets. One of the best-known police forces for this is Dubai’s. Its fleet includes cars such as two Audi R8s, a Alfa Romeo Stelvio, several Lamborghini, an Ferrari, also Bugatti and many more, which many people would love to have in their garages. Now, they have just added a Lamborghini Urus Performante.

This unit has been added to the fleet as a Lamborghini Urus Performante, equipped with everything needed to fulfil its role as a police vehicle. This unit was handed over at the Dubai Airshow and went through the workshop to receive all the police equipment needed to enter service as soon as possible.

On the outside the changes have been minimal. They have been limited to painting it white and decorating it with the Dubai Police’s own graphics. It has also been fitted with a blue emergency light bar and a siren, which will alert other road users to its presence.

Inside, somewhat more work has been done and it has been fitted out for police work. A gun rack to store the weapons has been added in a secure manner. In the boot, a space has been set up to store all the necessary police equipment in an orderly and practical way. There is also a fold-down screen to display messages to the outside and warn other drivers of any incident.

The Lamborghini Urus Performante of the Dubai police force is intended for tourist areas, where its presence will not only fulfil its function but also serve as a showcase of the police force’s capabilities.

It should be remembered that this model has a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which provides 666 CV and a maximum torque of 850 Nm. This takes it from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, with a top speed of 306 km/h. It is 47 kg lighter than the regular version, although with the additional equipment this advantage is lost, and it features an Akrapovič exhaust. This allows it to emit the well-known and prized sound of any Lamborghini and to be very noticeable wherever it passes.
