A McLaren MP4-12C wrecked at Spa

A McLaren MP4-12C was involved in a crash during a trackday at Spa-Francorchamps, leaving it quite badly damaged.

Just one more sports car among the many that, week after week, end up in crashes or are written off (when they don’t also claim the lives of the occupants). This time we have one of the few McLaren MP4-12C in existence, smashed up on the Belgian track of Spa-Francorchamps.

According to eyewitnesses, the McLaren was enjoying a trackday on a calm, rainy day, as the photo shows. And the truth is that running wide at Blanchimont at 200 km/h in the rain is a perfect opportunity to give yourself an unforgettable smack against the barriers.

And this is how the MP4-12C ended up: battered on all four sides. There is no evidence of the accident beyond the photo (which I think is enough), but apparently a certain video of the impact was circulating until it was quickly removed from YouTube. I imagine the owner of this McLaren was not too keen on the idea of the accident video circulating freely online.
