A new 7-seat SUV from Dacia is on its way
The new 7-seat SUV from Dacia, which will be one of the cheapest, is already on the drawing board and has a one-year timeframe to reach dealerships
Whether you like them or not, SUVs are in fashion. Whether you like it or not, MPVs are a species on the way to extinction. Add to this the end of the life cycle of a model and the rollout of the catalogue of a brand like Dacia, which has managed to reshape its star model, the compact saloon Dacia Logan, towards 5-door compacts with a body closer to a crossover, the Dacia Sandero both in its standard and Stepway versions, and towards SUVs, with the fantastic Dacia Duster as one of the best in its class, and the momentum seems logical. The model doomed to disappear is the Dacia Lodgy MPV, in favour of a new 7-seat SUV from Dacia.

This is what the French publication L’Argus says. We should not forget that Dacia is part of the Renault Group and that the plans for the “low cost” brand are being drawn up in France. Since the launch of the brand’s first electric vehicle, the Dacia Spring, another SUV, up to the end of production of one of the cheapest MPVs eligible for the DGT ECO environmental label, the Dacia Lodgy MPV, the transformation of this manufacturer into one of popular vehicles is a fact.
That is why the arrival of a 7-seat SUV from Dacia at dealerships will happen in just one year, since it will be in spring 2021 when dealers receive the first units.
What do we know about the 7-seat Dacia SUV?
According to the French outlet, this crossover will have the architecture provided by the modular platform for Renault CMF-B construction, that is, the one for compact vehicles used from the new Renault Clio up to the second generation of the Renault Captur.
Based on that platform, its length is expected to match that of the model being phased out, that is, around 4.5 metres long, which implies a wheelbase large enough to accommodate up to 7 occupants with a rear row of folding seats, capable of ‘disappearing’ when necessary to free up more boot space.

To power the new 7-seat Dacia SUV, it will feature 1.0 and 1.3 TCe petrol engines as well as a diesel with the 1.5 Blue dCi unit, and months after its launch a hybrid version using E-Tech technology as its hybrid propulsion system will appear.
As for the cost of this new vehicle, it is too early to know for certain the price of the 7-seat Dacia SUV, but we have no doubt that it will possibly be either the cheapest on the market or one of the cheapest, since the aim is to introduce a new, more popular vehicle with the same capacity and a price similar to the Dacia Lodgy MPV, whose more rugged Stepway version costs, in Spain, from €13,895.
