A new Citroën C6? Yes, but only for China

The French manufacturer of the double chevron has just unveiled the new generation of the Citroën C6 at the Beijing Motor Show. The previous Citroën C6 stopped being sold several years ago due to its low sales figures, but now the name returns for this new saloon which, for the time being, will only be sold in the Chinese market.

The new generation, like the previous one, has a Premium saloon approach that aims to be an executive vehicle. As such, it has generous exterior dimensions to maximise cabin space. Its length is 4.98 metres, while its width and height measure 1.84 and 1.47 metres respectively.

Stylistically, and as the images show, its exterior design is very different from what we are used to seeing in the European market, as it has been created to appeal to this Eastern market. The interior, however, may be more familiar to what a large Premium saloon typically offers here, with brown leather on the seats, dashboard and door trims.

As we said, it aims for generous interior space, and with its 2.9-metre wheelbase it achieves this. We have not seen it in person, but the images convey a strong sense of space in both the front and rear seats. As for technology, the new Citroën C6 for the Chinese market features a fully digital 12-inch instrument cluster, an 8-inch central touchscreen, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control and much more. It is also worth highlighting that, to improve comfort, it offers a four-zone automatic climate control, four ventilated and heated seats and a panoramic sunroof.

Although Citroën has not confirmed it, many sources speak about its powertrain. It seems that its only available engine will be a 1.8 turbo petrol with 204 CV and 280 Nm, sent to the front axle through a six-speed automatic gearbox.
