An electric SUV from Ford with a 500 km range is on its way
Ford will unveil a zero-emission crossover before 2020. The carmaker will also launch four more SUVs before the end of the decade.
Before 2020, Ford will present a new 100% electric crossover that will offer practically 500 kilometres of range. In 2016, the company presented three new SUVs in the old continent, and by the end of the decade it plans to launch five new crossovers, including the zero-emission model.
Ford sees the new generations as a potential source of demand in the SUV segment. At Ford they say that 1 in every 4 millennials interested in buying a new car considers buying an SUV.

The outlook of the millennial generation is driven by a strong social conscience and a tendency to rent, lend and share goods and services. This way of thinking is changing the way car companies do business.
“SUV sales are rising faster than those of any other type of vehicle in Europe, and millennials are a major driver of this demand. Last year, Ford SUV sales even outpaced overall segment growth,” says Roelant de Waard, vice president of marketing, sales and service at Ford Europe.
In 2016, SUV sales in Europe rose by 21% compared with 2015, reaching more than a quarter of total market share, meaning one in every four cars sold is a crossover. For its part, Ford increased the number of SUVs registered by 31% thanks to the EcoSport (compact), Kuga (mid-size) and Edge (large) models.
