Romanian police is reinforced with the Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce

The Romanian police have joined the security forces that use an unusual car to chase criminals, thanks to an agreement signed with the importer of Alfa Romeo in the country, which has offered the Romanian police the use of the Giulia Veloce

Police forces’ romances with the most interesting cars on the market are something that repeats itself everywhere in the world. Many vehicle fleets of police and security forces in several states include unusual cars, seeking the best way to fight crime and make criminals think twice before doing anything wrong.

Romania has become the second force to add the Alfa Romeo Giulia to its fleet, after Italy included it among the cars serving the Carabinieri. Admittedly, while the Italian police use the top-of-the-range version of the model, the Romanians will get behind the wheel of the most basic version of the car, the Veloce.

While the Quadrifoglio, used by the Italians, delivers 510 CV, thanks to its 2.9-litre V6 engine, the one in the Romanian fleet produces 280 CV and a maximum torque of 400 Nm thanks to the turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine. This power is managed by an 8-speed automatic gearbox, which helps it reach 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.

In addition to the modifications needed for its duties, the Alfa Romeo Veloce comes with the standard equipment found on the commercial model. This means officers can enjoy active safety systems such as forward collision braking, autonomous emergency braking, lane change warning, blind spot elimination system and other features that make this saloon a safe car, even for the officers behind the wheel.

This model is part of the police fleet thanks to an agreement with the brand’s official importer in the country. For twelve months, it will serve on the A3 motorway, the national road 1 and the ring road around Bucharest.
