Aptera says it is not dead yet
Refunds of deposits for customers who had placed a reservation for the Aptera 2e do not seem to have been the defining event at the start of this small manufacturer’s decline, but rather a strategic shift, since Aptera now announces that it will move its production site and part of its headquarters.
The 2e will ultimately be built, although not at its current Californian facilities, but at another location in the United States. To that end, they are evaluating with local authorities the site for their next factory, a clear sign that Aptera will keep surviving.
Another good sign is that they announce they will employ 1,500 additional people to begin production of the 2e, but it seems too risky to give more details about a model that has the reservations to match and that probably isn’t what the most fervent defender of electric vehicles is looking for.
