The Aston Martin Cygnet would have ceased production

The Aston Martin Cygnet, the smallest of the aristocratic Aston Martin models, has left production and has reportedly already been cancelled by the British brand. The Cygnet was presented in 2010, built on the basis of the Toyota iQ, with more luxurious trim. A model that would have allowed Aston Martin to offer an “economical” vehicle in its range while lowering the brand’s average emissions, but which apparently failed to meet its sales targets.

Although the exact number of vehicles sold is not known, the Cygnet reportedly did not manage to exceed the 20,000 units sold, the target that had been set. It seems that one of the drawbacks was the long waiting time to take a Cygnet home, since Aston Martin built the Cygnet to strict order.

Although the Cygnet has reportedly already ended production, it is said that units still remain at dealerships, so there will be a few more months to buy one. At roughly 37,000 euros, the Cygnet was the most expensive mini-car in history.

One of the most short-lived models from the British house, also counting the brief year the Aston Martin Virage was on sale in 2012. For some, the Cygnet was a serious mistake, paid for by the model’s failure in the “second car” market among wealthier buyers.
