Aston Martin chose to wait for the Goodwood Festival of Speed to unveil the stunning virtual sports car it has created for the video game Gran Turismo 6: the Aston Martin DP-100.

Little by little, the Gran Turismo video game is becoming the technological showcase of some brands, anticipating future real-world cars, as Mercedes, BMW and Volkswagen have already done.

The DP-100 was created using many of the techniques applied in developing the sports cars produced by Aston Martin (hand sketches and 3D modelling, followed by a full rendering in the virtual world), so it offers an exceptional level of detail and cutting-edge technology.

Starting with nothing more than the traditional “blank sheet”, the Aston Martin design team and engineers worked for six months to create the best of Vision Gran Turismo based on racing cars. Clearly pushing the limits of what a Aston Martin could be, the DP-100 is not only sensational in its design, but also features a high degree of engineering integrity.

As for its technical details, we don’t know much, but we do know that the Aston Martin DP100 is powered by a magnificent twin-turbo V12 engine mounted mid-rear with no less than 800 horsepower.

We will have to wait until July to try it out virtually in Gran Turismo 6, as there will be a free update for PlayStation 3.
