Aston Martin Valkyrie: the hypercar with 1,176 CV

The Aston Martin Valkyrie has completed its first road tests. The hypercar has been out on open roads and will soon go on sale.

How many times have we seen models presented that never reach the market? Pre-series or simple prototypes that fall by the wayside. But the Aston Martin Valkyrie is going to become a reality soon, because it has already hit the road.

It did so around the Silverstone circuit in the United Kingdom. These verification and testing runs belong to the vehicle’s final phase and, after this, commercial sales will begin. The plan is for production to start during the second half of 2020.

The design we see in the images, which now appears to be final, features exaggerated aerodynamics that are unusual for a production car. The single-nut wheels are new, and we can see a pronounced front splitter as well as eye-catching side skirts. This car looks more like a Formula 1 car than a road sports car.

Cosworth powertrain

Beyond the aerodynamic exaggeration of this Aston Martin Valkyrie, one of the most striking things is its powertrain, developed by Cosworth. Its engine is a 6.5-litre V12 capable of revving up to 11,000 rpm. But the best part is not that, but its maximum output of 1,014 CV, that is, 156 CV per litre.

And for those who thought that figure could not be beaten, we should add that a hybrid system is combined with the combustion engine. The hybrid unit delivers an additional 176 CV and 280 Nm, for a combined total output of 1,176 CV and 900 Nm. We don’t yet know much more, but it has been revealed that Rimac is the company supplying both the motor and the batteries for this British hypercar.

As we said, it is not yet in production but it is close. When we see a car being tested on open roads with its bodywork unCAMOUFLAGED, its arrival is near. Late 2020 could be when we see a few units of this Valkyrie running on British roads.
