Audi presents its cars always connected thanks to the factory-fitted eSIM

Audi will implement a SIM card in its new models, which will give buyers greater connectivity from day one and will offer free services, with no data consumption limit, along with other paid services to enhance its connectivity offering

Market research tells us that one of the things new car buyers look for most is the possibility of total connectivity. For that very reason, manufacturers are working to offer an ever better service in this regard. So it comes as no surprise that one of the largest in the world has launched a proposal so that every single car leaving the factory comes with a SIM card installed from the outset.

Audi will offer free services for three years and other paid services with special ratesWith this proposal, Audi aims to give all its users the possibility of having full connectivity from the very first moment. The models that can benefit from this advantage are, for now, those using the second generation of the modular infotainment platform with Audi connect eSIM. This system will make it possible for the Audi to become a mobile connectivity hub.

Data-free “roaming”

The mobile connectivity services are installed on a 4G platform, which offers download speeds of up to 100 Mbps. In principle, this connectivity will include Google Street View and Google Earth, which will serve as browser services. But that’s not all. It will also allow access to Twitter accounts and to the smartphone‘s contacts and calendar. These services will come with unlimited data access, so there will be no need to constantly keep track of how much data is being used.

To offer a Wi-Fi hotspot service, Audi will enable several rates so you can stay connected at all times, with different options to suit each of its customers’ needs. In addition, the Audi connect eSIM system connects to the partner provider in each country, so that when crossing each European border, it connects to that country’s provider, avoiding roaming charges.

For now, the models that will feature this capability are the new Audi A3, the Audi A4, the new Audi A5, the new Audi Q2, and the Audi Q7, but as the rollout of this connectivity platform progresses, it will be integrated into more models.
