Audi RS5 Convertible, spy photos

As you may recall, following the unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show, certain patents surfaced revealing that Audi was developing the convertible version of one of the most attractive vehicles in the brand’s history, the Audi RS5

Well, as you can see, it has only taken a few weeks to get the first spy photos of a certain vehicle currently undergoing testing at the Nürburgring, the legendary German circuit where virtually every manufacturer sends its prototypes for high-performance testing.

As with the coupé version, the prototype you see on screen is based on the S5 Cabrio although, as the images show, this new vehicle features much wider wheel arches and a front bumper taken directly from the Audi RS5.

Mechanically, as expected, Audi will once again fit the enormous 4.2-litre V8 found in the closed version, an engine capable of producing a whopping 450 hp and 430 Nm of peak torque, power that would be sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
