Audi will fit a 2.0 TFSI in the new S1 Quattro
Bit by bit, more specifications are coming to light about what, strictly speaking, a model as promising as the new Audi S1 Quattro should offer, a dynamic, stylish and characterful vehicle that will surely carve out a place for itself among cars in its class.
Because of this, and although for now it is still only a rumour with a very solid basis, today I want to tell you about the possibility that this new model could feature the successful 2.0 TFSI engine instead of the 1.4 TFSI that powers the most powerful version of the Audi A1 to date, with 180 horsepower.
This engine, apparently, would be paired with none other than the well-known Haldex all-wheel drive with intelligent electronic torque distribution, as well as a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic gearbox from the VAG Group. Without a doubt, a setup that on paper should be capable of captivating even the most demanding drivers.

As for the power output of this new version, I would like to give you some properly verified data, but so far everything is speculation, although personally I would bet on a final output within the 200-211 horsepower range.
As you well know, within the VAG Group this very engine block comes in outputs that vary widely, from 200 horsepower, the base output for the block, up to 265 horsepower in its most powerful version. Now, why between 200 and 211 horsepower? Honestly, I would also love to dream of an S1 Quattro with 265 horsepower, but structurally, could the A1 handle such power?
I’m sure you have quickly answered a resounding “yes” to that question, provided the necessary reinforcements are made… but one must also think about the cost of the vehicle, which after such a study, restructuring, implementation, testing and so on would climb to levels that almost nobody would be willing to pay, since nobody likes an S1 Quattro at S3 prices.
