AutoBild puts the Peugeot 601 ahead

There is no doubt that Peugeot excels at building large saloons and coupés, a true specialty of the French brand. Until now we had the 607, successor to another great car, the 605. But the French group may well have another surprise in store for us in two years’ time with a new model in the same line.
This is the possible 601, which the people at AutoBild have boldly previewed in advance. The new model would be designed on the technical basis of the 508, whose platform will give life to a new family of models.
The new model line will include the customary estate, the saloon and the saloon-coupé, along with an allroad model with much greater ground clearance than the 508 SW Allroad, which will be presented in Frankfurt.

As for engines, no major changes are to be expected compared with those of the 508, although some engines shared with Citroën and developed alongside Jaguar could also be used. Special mention should be made of the 270 hp V6 diesel of the XF Diesel S, which is even faster than some naturally aspirated V8s from Coventry, and is also used by the Citroën C6.

El hecho de que Peugeot siempre haya hecho barlinas de gran tamaño no es sinónimo de que haya hecho “grandes berlinas”. Citroën (la del 2cv y el Dyane 6) siempre fue mejor en esas lides.
