BAIC's B70 leaks, the Jeep five-door Wrangler

The Chinese BAIC has gone a bit further, though not in creativity or originality. For some time now BAIC has set out to copy the Jeep Wrangler, with a very particular interpretation of a five-door Wrangler, and its creation was leaked today under the BAIC B70 name.
The B70 follows the path of the B40, another Chinese Wrangler, but with three doors. Although the B40 was already shown at several shows in China as a prototype, it has not yet gone on sale, perhaps fearing some kind of reaction from Fiat-Chrysler. BAIC has the foundations to build Jeep, since years ago it was one of Chrysler’s “strategic” partners when it was tied to Daimler.

But returning to the B70, BAIC continues to go to rather dubious extremes when it comes to design, as you can see in the images. This B70 is said to use the same powertrain as the B40, a four-cylinder, 2.4-litre engine.
No further details are given, although the engine may seem a little underpowered for the added weight of the B70. The truth is that these Chinese Jeep don’t even come close to the original, though it’s only a matter of time before they also decide to copy the Pentastar V6 engine.
