Ban on selling cars older than 10 years in the United Arab Emirates

From now on, in the United Arab Emirates it will no longer be possible to sell cars more than 10 years old. In addition, those vehicles that are over 20 years old will not be allowed on the road either.
This surprising measure, according to Nasser Al Mansouri (director of the National Traffic Authority), aims to encourage the use of public transport, since currently around 1.84 million motor vehicles are on the road, in one of the countries with the highest number of vehicles relative to its population.
And according to statistics, in two years, a third of the vehicles currently on the road will already be 10 years old. The measure is a bit “harsh”, especially for those who own luxury vehicles, who will always have the option of selling them outside the territory.
