Baojun 630: a Chinese car created in collaboration with GM

Now that we’re already into the weekend, I bring you a curiosity I came across in the world of motoring blogs: it’s another Chinese model that will soon reach the Asian market, but the interesting thing is that little by little they’re improving the design and the interior quality (at least as far as it looks).

In this case we’re talking about the Baojun 630, a brand created by SAIC, General Motors and Wuling, and here we have the first saloon from the company built on the base of a Chevrolet Epica. Lord of horses, which would be the approximate translation of the word Baojun, has presented a model that is quite attractive visually, and in the images we can see an interior where GM’s hand is evident.

The Baojun 630 will feature a 1.5 or 1.8 Euro 4 petrol engine, and its exterior design follows the patterns that prevail in the Asian country, with a three-box layout and a familiar, somewhat unoriginal design, but better resolved than other similar models of Chinese origin. Production is planned at 100,000 units, and it will reach the market in 2011 through a sales network of 100 points of sale in China, with a starting price that is very attractive at current exchange rates, since it would be around 11,000 euros.
