The Romanian brand had a novelty on its stand, the Sandero Stepway, whose official photos we already published a few days ago. It is the European version of the Renault of the same name that was already on sale in Latin America. In this case the front end has been changed to fit the design of the current Dacia, and its ground clearance is reduced, since the Dacia has 20 millimetres while the Renault has 50. Even so, the driving position remains high, which improves visibility.

The Stepway is visually differentiated from the other Sandero models by its underbody protectors, roof rails, mirrors, door handles and chrome exhaust tip, and by the black plastic mouldings on several areas such as the wheel arches. The interior has a specific black upholstery, and elements such as the centre console housing or the edges of the air vents are grey. Other optional decorative elements can also be added, such as stickers for the rear wheel arches.

Its engines will be a 1.6 MPI petrol unit producing 90 CV that consumes 7.6 litres per 100 km, and a dCi diesel of Renault that produces 70 CV, consumes 5.3 litres per 100 km and emits 140 grams of CO2 per kilometre. The Stepway is based on the Ambiance trim, and its equipment includes folding rear seats and fog lights.

As for safety, it features ABS, EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), EBA (Emergency Brake Assist) and driver and passenger airbags. Its colour range consists of three shades: Mercury Grey, Comet Grey and Ruby Red.

The Dacia Sandero Stepway will be built at the Romanian plant in Pitesti, and 95% of the car will be recyclable, which, combined with the dCi engine, gives it the eco2 category of Renault. It will go on sale in September this year in most European markets.
