Bentley Bentayga Extended Wheelbase, luxury that now stretches out by 180 mm

Bentley has started 2022 stronger than ever, thanks to the positive boost provided by the sales figures achieved last year, becoming one of its best years despite the pandemic still lingering, with the Bentayga as the undisputed leader, accounting for 40% of the brand’s sales, making it the most important model for Bentley.

When it hit the market, the Bentley Bentayga raised the luxury standards in the SUV world, a segment on the rise even for brands of this kind, where we have seen others follow in its wake by adding this type of vehicle to their line-up. With the aim of remaining the standard-bearer of luxury SUVs, both for Bentley and for the rest, the Bentayga now expands its range with the arrival of the Extended Wheelbase or EWB version.

The Bentayga EWB is the new extended-wheelbase version, a feature that can be easily noticed from the outside thanks to 180 mm of added wheelbase, growing from the 2,990 mm of the standard version to the 3,170 mm of the Bentayga EWB. This greater length translates into more comfort for the rear seats, where occupants will gain in ease and comfort, the latter thanks to the panoramic roof, which has had its position moved back 12.5 cm, letting more light into the rear seats, along with a rear climate control that can only be activated when the seats are occupied.

Optionally, the Bentley Airline Seat package can be fitted, which exponentially improves the quality and comfort of the rear seats, rivalling even those found in a first-class airplane cabin. These seats have the distinctive feature of being controllable and adjustable by each passenger, as well as being able to recline up to 40º and feature the intelligent climate control Seat Auto Climate, capable of measuring temperature on contact and humidity so as to adjust their different parts to the ideal temperature.

This is not the only feature of these premium seats: they can also be firmed or softened at six pressure points with up to 177 different settings, further improving occupant comfort. On top of all this comes the level of quality and finishes characteristic of Bentley, such as the upholstery on the door panels with perforations that feature LED lighting to create a unique ambience.

On the exterior of the Bentley Bentayga EWB there are also changes beyond the longer wheelbase and larger rear doors: the front grille borrows from the Flying Spur, with its slats now set vertically. It also comes equipped with 19-inch wheels in a new 10-spoke design with a silver finish. Mechanically, it is only available with the 4.0-litre V8 engine, capable of producing 550 CV together with 770 Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, with which it reaches 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.
