Bentley plugs in at the Geneva Show: the new Bentayga Plug-in Hybrid

The Geneva Motor Show is here, and it has arrived with a strong push towards electrification.
In this way, not even the luxury brand Bentley has resisted, launching in Geneva what will be its first hybrid model, the Bentayga Plug-in Hybrid.
The luxury brand Bentley has found its best ally in the Volkswagen Group Volkswagen (current owner of the British marque). By increasing its investments, they have enabled Bentley to multiply its size in just 15 years, reaching segments that only a few years ago were barely a dream for the brand’s executives.
One of the most important creations for Bentley in recent years has been the Bentayga, the first SUV of the English brand, built on the platform of other models from the VW Group such as the Audi Q7, the Porsche Cayenne or the also newly launched Lamborghini Urus.

In fact, the Bentayga has become a very innovative model within the brand, as it was the one tasked with equipping, also for the first time in Bentley’s history, a diesel engine, specifically the 4.0 V8 TDI derived from the one used in the SQ7.
Now, in the midst of the electric frenzy, the guys at Bentley have decided to give the Bentayga a plug-in hybrid powertrain, aiming for the highest efficiency. The first hybrid from Bentley features a 3.0 V6 turbocharged engine which, together with an electric motor and a battery allowing the Bentayga to drive up to 50 km in 100% electric mode, will deliver a combined output of around 450 CV, similar to the 440 CV of the Panamera 4S e-hybrid from which its powertrain derives.
