Blue Link: Hyundai's remote system to control the car from home

Hyundai has created a way to interact with our car from home. The Blue Link system, compatible with Google Home, allows several remote functions such as charging electric vehicles, starting the car or adjusting the temperature.
With the aim of encouraging the connection between cars and the home, Hyundai presented its Blue Link system at the “Pepcom Digital Experience” event, held in Las Vegas. This system works in harmony with Google Assistant and allows a series of functions to be carried out when we are at home and away from the vehicle.
Among these remote actions are charging electric vehicles, locking and starting the car, adjusting the temperature and a system for recovering stolen vehicles.
Operating these services through the Blue Link system is as familiar and intuitive as it gets. As with Google Assistant, you simply speak a series of voice commands, among which the following stand out:
- “Ok Google, tell Blue Link to start my Santa Fe and set the temperature to 25 degrees”
- “Ok Google, tell Blue Link to send the address of the Mandarin Oriental restaurant in Las Vegas to my Sonata”
- “Ok Google, tell Blue Link to lock my car”

“Our customers find these smart home integrations very useful and convenient. We will continue adding advantageous features to our cars and to the Blue Link system, incorporating elements that can be used while you’re on your sofa, such as remote electric vehicle charging, remote locking and starting of the car, or temperature adjustment,” says Manish Mehrotra, Digital Business and Connected Operations Director at Hyundai Motor America.
The Blue Link system offers multiple access options. It can be accessed through the buttons located on the rearview mirror and the centre console of the car, via the web and even through the app. The system also can be controlled from Android Wear smartwatches and the Apple Watch.
