This is the third generation of the Kia Picanto

2017 promises to be a year of strong emotions for Kia, who are about to unveil to the world the Kia GT, a model in which they have placed great expectations and which promises to be the new flagship of the brand. Now they reveal for the first time another model that will arrive in 2017, the smallest in their range, the Kia Picanto.
The Kia Picanto reached dealerships in 2004 and has become, over more than 10 years, one of the most popular models from the South Korean brand. Two generations have arrived so far, and now we are faced with the third, which we were able to see just a few days ago thanks to some renders that Kia revealed.

The images you can see in this article correspond to the sportier version called GT-Line, which is the same one we saw in the renders I mentioned earlier, and which barely differs from them in the details. Regardless of having a body kit that sets it apart from the more toned-down versions, the new design is much more aggressive and refined.
Its front end changes completely: its light cluster is much more aggressive, and the narrow central grille now merges with the headlights, following the line of the other new models. The central mouth remains large, but now with a much more aggressive design that also houses the fog lights in a more centred position, making way for larger side air intakes.
The side design now features a smoother and flatter design, without the dividing line found on the current generation. This flatter design is also found at the rear, which is no longer rounded and houses a new crescent-shaped light cluster. The lower part of the bumper also changes considerably, giving rise to yet another new design for the lights and reflectors it houses.

Overall, its length remains the same as the current generation at 3,595 mm, but its width has been slightly modified, resulting in a wheelbase 15 mm longer. This will undoubtedly translate into greater comfort for its occupants. In addition, although it will depend on the market where it is sold, the new Kia Picanto will be available in up to 11 different colours.
As with the exterior, its interior has also been completely renewed, giving way to a much more modern and avant-garde design. Perhaps the most striking element is the floating touchscreen at the top of the centre console, so we can be sure the new Kia Picanto will incorporate the latest infotainment systems for its occupants. Furthermore, its future owners will have a wide catalogue of colours for the trim of the elements and the upholstery.
For now, this is everything we can offer you about the new Kia Picanto. Its public presentation is scheduled for the Geneva Motor Show, to be held in March, so we will have to wait until the date approaches to learn more details about its equipment and engines. Specific prices for the Spanish market will also be revealed as the launch date draws near, set for the second quarter of this year.
