BMW 4 Series Concept. Information, video and images

This afternoon my colleague Fernando showed you both the first data and the images that BMW had offered to the media about the 4 Series Concept, the coupé version of the 3 Series. Now, thanks to the brand itself, we have information, a gallery and even a video where we have the chance to see the latest creation of the German brand from every angle.

For the first time in the brand, a coupé derived from the brand’s entry-level saloon will use a different designation. From now on, three-door coupés and convertibles will be known by even numbers, while saloons and estates will carry odd numbers. There will also be the 2 Series, which will correspond to the 1 Series saga.

The 4 Series Coupé Concept is 50 millimetres longer than the current 3 Series coupé on sale, while the front track grows by 45 mm (1,545 mm) and the rear track by 80 mm (1,593 mm). It has a width of 1,826 mm, 44 mm wider than its predecessor, 16 mm lower and a wheelbase of 2,810 mm.

This Concept, which is closer to a production model than to a prototype, remains faithful to the lines set by its four-door sibling. The main differences from it are found at the rear and in the interior. What an interior, although we will talk about it later.

The rear of the vehicle is very reminiscent of the shapes of the 6 Series. Its L-shaped lights remain a tradition in this saga, accompanied by considerably wide rear wheel arches that set it apart from a sporty car and a bourgeois saloon. On the rear bumper, two rectangular exhaust pipes have been included at the ends of the sides.

The interior is a different world. It seems that when we open the door we enter a completely different universe from what we are used to BMW. Luxury and the finest materials dominate the entire cabin. In the Concept, the design has been developed by BMW Individual, the brand’s division responsible for meeting the wishes of the wealthiest and most demanding customers.

The roof has been covered in high-quality Alcantara. The seats feature a design never seen before, offering an extra touch of exclusivity that makes the model incomparable. Even the cup holders have been trimmed in leather, while the instrument panel barely changes from the saloon.

This model will make its debut at the Detroit Motor Show next month.
