BMW 8 X JEFF KOONS, a limited edition to spend $350,000 on

The BMW 8 X JEFF KOONS is one of those special variants the brand occasionally treats us to. In this case, they contacted American artist Jeff Koons. The result is this car, an art car that served as a canvas for the artist to showcase a design he created to craft a very special version of the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé.

This is the second time Jeff Koons has designed a body for the German brand. The first time was in 2010, and that vehicle ended up racing in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was a BMW M3 GT2 Art Car. This model, on the other hand, is destined to travel through shopping centers across the United States as a display vehicle and part of a limited edition of 99 units.

The special edition will feature the artist’s personal design, but not only on the exterior. Inside, it has a colour scheme also created by him. It will not be possible to find it on any other BMW model outside of this limited series.

Vibrant colours and attractive designs

The exterior of the BMW 8 X JEFF KOONS has been designed with vibrant colours and illustrations featuring pop elements, such as the word “POP” on the sides. According to BMW, the body painting process requires 11 different stages and several hundred hours to complete.

Inside, a red and blue leather scheme has been chosen, which, let’s be honest, reminds us of a certain Marvel character’s suit. These vibrant colours are complemented by brown, which appears in other areas of the interior. On the centre console there is an inscription showing the serial number of this limited edition.

Two units will be produced each week until reaching the cap of 99 units. It is based on the M850i xDrive Gran Coupe with specifications for the US market. A unit of this special edition is priced at $350,000 plus $995 for handling and delivery anywhere in the country. For comparison, a standard unit of this variant costs $99,900, a price well below this one.
