BMW Bertone Spicup changes hands for €460,000

Incredible but true, the vehicle you see on screen is none other than the one-of-a-kind BMW Bertone Spicup, a car created purely as a design study and presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1969, a concept unique in the world that at the time stood out precisely for being 100% functional
Mechanically, the car you can see on screen and in the great image gallery at the end of the post features a striking BMW 2.5-litre engine block, a period straight-six perfectly tuned thanks to a more than meticulous restoration process
Apart from this excellent engine, beneath its eye-catching bodywork the car uses a good number of parts from the famous BMW 2000 CS, which, together with its exclusivity, is reason enough for a collector to have agreed to pay no less than €460,000 at the latest auction organised by the house of Bonhams
