The marketing department of BMW is going to select 700 “distinguished” customers to test the electric BMW 1 Series, through leasing, the German company announced today. Unlike the case of the Mini E, offered in the USA, it is now the turn of European and Asian drivers to enjoy the electric 1 Series (Active E), for one year and in a four-seat coupé configuration.

The tests will begin next year, although it is not yet known exactly how many 1 Series models will be offered. The 1 Series is the first model of the project called Project i, by the German brand.

Basically, Project i is BMW’s attempt to offer a range of cars, not necessarily electric, which will be on the road very soon, and of which the Megacity concept is part.

We hope to see it on the road in Spain soon, without really knowing whether any test prototype will reach Spain, and we will try to be the first to test the electric 1 Series.
