BMW MZ8 Concept, a tribute to the Z8 and the 8 Series

Designer Christophe Jourd’hui has created the BMW MZ8 Concept, a prototype designed by and for paying tribute to two vehicles that marked a before and after within the German brand, the BMW Z8 and the 8 Series. With the MZ8 they have also wanted to commemorate 40 years of Motorsport, the sports division of BMW.
Although the French designer has not provided any information about the model, we can see, through the images provided, the use of retro lines accompanied by the iconic twin kidney grille that has always been part of the brand’s models. The metal roof can be removed so that, should it go into production, it can be used as a convertible.

The images also show the use of a mid-rear-mounted engine, as on the BMW M1, but in the opposite way to the vehicles it is trying to pay tribute to.
For now, the BMW MZ8 Concept is just that, a prototype conceived on a professional’s computer, but can you imagine if one day this recreation reached dealerships in a limited run? At last BMW would have a rival to the R8 from Audi, being not only more beautiful but also with a design that shows sportiness, something that has always characterised BMW vehicles. It would be a shame if it remained only in photographs.
