Bosch announces improvements across its entire range of motors for electric bicycles

All these innovations from the German manufacturer are further proof of its commitment to improving the experience of electric bicycle users, offering more powerful, efficient solutions adapted to the demands of today’s urban mobility.

Bosch’s electric bicycle systems division has just unveiled, at the Eurobike trade fair in Germany, which ends precisely today, Sunday, three upgraded motor lines for this type of two-wheeled vehicle. These are Cargo Line, Performance Line Speed and Performance Line. All of them stand out for being quieter, lighter and more powerful, in addition to including an improved battery, the PowerTube 540, which raises the overall performance and range of e-bikes.

Starting with the Cargo Line and Performance Line Speed motors, these have been optimised to deliver greater torque, power and assistance level. Users will be able to customise these parameters through the eBike Flow app, tailoring the riding experience to their personal needs.

The new Cargo Line, designed specifically for electric bicycles with space for carrying luggage, now delivers up to 100 Nm of torque -15 Nm more than its predecessor- and a maximum power of 750 W -instead of 600 W-. It is also lighter, weighing 2.8 kg -100 grams less- and quieter. This model offers up to 400 per cent assistance in Cargo mode, along with features such as walk assist for pushing the bicycle and hill assist to make it easier to handle.

For its part, the Performance Line Speed reaches a pedal assistance level of up to 400 per cent and a top speed of 45 km/h, with 100 Nm of torque and 750 W of power. This motor, also around 100 grams lighter, is ideal for those looking to travel quickly through the big city. Its urban character is further reflected in the availability of Limit mode, which reduces the top speed to 25 km/h in order to comply at all times with speed limits on cycle lanes in Germany and other European countries, where faster e-bikes must travel exclusively on roads and be registered as mopeds.

As for batteries, Bosch has launched the aforementioned PowerTube 540, with a capacity of 540 Wh compared with the 500 Wh of the PowerTube 500, while keeping the same weight. This battery, available from now on, offers greater range and meets high safety standards. It can also be combined with the PowerMore 250 range extender, thereby reaching an energy storage capacity of almost 800 Wh, ideal for longer journeys.

Bosch supplies electronic components to well-known electric bicycle brands such as Trek, Gazelle, Cannondale or Riese & Müller, and currently equips 1,702 different e-bike models in Europe, North America and Australia. Although the German company also supplies motors and components for electric vehicles and marine applications, the truth is that it abandoned the manufacture of batteries for electric cars some time ago, focusing exclusively since then on batteries for electric bicycles.
