Bugatti Mistral Convertibles Supercars
Bugatti W16 Mistral Caroline, an exclusive car with a unique decoration
Bugatti’s Sur Mesure personalisation programme presents the W16 Mistral Caroline, a radical vehicle that becomes friendlier with this decoration

Just over three years ago, Bugatti unveiled the W16 Mistral, a model with several noteworthy connotations: it is the first roadster the French brand has launched since the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse and, also, the last supercar from the brand to feature the majestic W16 engine shared with the Chiron. All of this is wrapped in the exclusivity that always surrounds its models, as only 99 units of the W16 Mistral were produced.
Given all this, it is logical that the Bugatti W16 Mistral is only suitable for a select few with deep pockets, and one of these owners decided to make the W16 Mistral an even more exclusive vehicle through Bugatti’s Sur Mesure programme, which allows numerous details of each vehicle to be personalised. This is how the Bugatti W16 Mistral Caroline was born, as a tribute from a father to his daughter.

The Bugatti W16 Mistral is a ferociously radical and fast supercar, an absolute beast which, through the W16 Mistral Caroline, becomes friendlier. This loyal Bugatti customer wanted to give it a completely different identity, defined by delicacy and elegance, through a vision inspired by floral elements, the world of haute couture and the heartfelt tribute he wished to pay his daughter.

The Bugatti W16 Mistral Caroline is thus finished in Lavender, a personalised shade inspired by flowers, whose final tone was adjusted to achieve a delicate balance between warmth and luminosity, depth and shine. This shade also changes with the light, shifting between bluish and reddish-violet tones, reflecting the blooming of plants while highlighting the sculptural form of the W16 through play of light and shadow. As if that were not enough, the lower part of the bodywork is decorated in Violet Carbon, which provides a sense of depth and contrast.

The W16 Mistral Caroline could not lack floral motifs, the main theme of this decoration. The design hand-applied to the movable rear spoiler stands out, with layers of lilac and iris tones showing perfectly defined petals and shades that blend to create a greater sense of depth. In the centre, the name Caroline appears in a lettering style characteristic of Bugatti. The process is extremely meticulous: Bugatti’s technicians precisely apply multiple masking films in several layers, turning the spoiler into a canvas that displays its full splendour when the aerodynamic brake is activated.

Inside the Bugatti W16 Mistral Caroline, a pattern similar to the exterior has been followed, with leather upholstery now in Blanc and Minuit colours, combined with violet tones and the Violet Carbon of the exterior. To this we must add floral motifs on the seat headrests, hand-embroidered using layered stitching techniques and thousands of threads. These embroideries have also been applied to the door panels, though with a different character, as the petals appear to be flying as if carried by the wind, a technique developed by Bugatti. Finally, the gear lever houses, protected by tinted glass, a sculpture of Rembrandt’s famous elephant Bugatti.
Where nothing has changed, and nothing needed to, is in its mechanical part. Let us remember that the W16 Mistral Caroline is powered by the 8,000 cc W16 block with four turbos from Bugatti, producing 1,600 CV and 1,600 Nm of torque, figures that allow it, as has already been demonstrated, to reach an incredible 453.91 km/h.
