BYD doesn't want to be left behind and is launching a new brand aimed at luxury cars
After arriving in Europe with several models, BYD is launching a new electric car brand in China, aimed at customers who are looking for personalisation

For several years now, we have not stopped reading news about BYD, a Chinese brand that is managing to carve out a niche in the international market. In fact, BYD is offering cars under different brands, so that it can position each of them in different segments. Until now, the group offered four different brands: Dynasty Series, Ocean Series, Denza and YangWang.
Now, the group is completed with a new brand. It is called Fang Cheng Bao, which in Chinese combines the concepts of “Formula” and “Leopard“. This may seem strange to us, but for the Chinese it may be quite important and seems to illustrate what they want with this brand.

A brand for premium personalised cars
The goals of this brand are to offer buyers mass-market, general-purpose vehicles, but with a very high level of personalisation. This means it will be a brand that offers vehicles in which the buyer’s wishes take absolute priority. In other words, it will be a “tailor made” brand, with a wide variety of optional elements to create the car each person wants.

To create these models, BYD will rely on the platforms shared with all its brands, together with the technology it has developed for its cars. However, it will be the customer who chooses details such as the body colour, the different designs and sizes of the wheels, and it will even be possible to include software modifications to customise the infotainment system.
The first model to arrive under the Fang Cheng Bao umbrella will be an electric SUV, of which we have only been able to see some images of the car dressed in camouflage patterns. For the moment, there are no plans to bring this brand to Europe, although this could happen within a reasonably short time.
It should be remembered that in our market this degree of personalisation is not very common in mass-market cars, which is where the new brand wants to focus. However, in the Chinese market they are quite used to modifying and offering very complete personalisation to buyers. So we will have to wait a little to find out whether there is any possibility of finding this brand in Europe, alongside other offerings from BYD.
