BYD e6, first all-electric crossover

The Chinese brand BYD is showing off its full technological arsenal when it comes to hybrid and electric powertrains. First came the BYD F3DM with its hybrid system and the lowest price in the world for a hybrid car.
This time it presents the BYD e6, the first fully electric crossover with very significant performance, technical specifications and range, which represent a step forward compared with other brands.
The BYD e6 features state-of-the-art batteries that can reach 50% of their available charge in 10 minutes, and 100% in one hour, which is certainly much shorter than the time some manufacturers advertise. But its range figures are not lacking either: the BYD e6 has a range of 400 km.

It also features plug-in technology, clean and easy to handle, since it only requires a standard power outlet to connect to. In terms of performance, it has a top speed of 160 km/h and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just over eight seconds. Arrival on the European and American markets is expected by 2011.
