BYD opens its first dealership in Málaga

BYD (Build Your Dreams), the remarkable Chinese car brand that has recently entered the market, and Caetano Retail, the largest distribution group in the Iberian Peninsula, have reached an agreement to establish a dealership network in southern Spain. Today, 29 June, the first store in Andalusia has been opened, specifically in Málaga, at the location known as Ciudad Caetano, where Grupo Caetano already has four other automotive brands.

The opening had the honour of welcoming more than 200 people, including press, authorities and businesspeople from the province. This event marks the beginning of the expansion of BYD in Andalusia, and it is not only that: it will also represent a major investment in the country by the brand, which will grow as it expands in the region. The brand has already accumulated more than 4.3 million units sold across the models offered in Spain: the Tang, the Atto 3, the Han, and the newly arrived Dolphin. The brand has announced that, in the near future, openings in Seville, Cádiz and other provinces of Andalusia will take place.

BYD has placed its trust in Caetano Retail España with the aim of offering the best customer experience. Caetano Retail España is part of Grupo Internacional Salvador Caetano, which has official dealerships for 15 brands in Spain, adding up to more than 50 sales points offering a service with the highest quality standards. In Andalusia, it will develop the network of official dealerships of BYD under the name Caetano Tec. In the case of Caetano Retail Málaga, the figures show turnover of 157 million in 2022, with more than 4,900 units sold and a market share of 16% in the private and business segment.

BYD catalogue: variety and quality

BYD has begun its commercial presence in Spain with a range of three models: the BYD ATTO 3, a dynamic C-segment SUV with a 60.4 kWh battery and a range of up to 565 km; the BYD TANG, a seven-seat E-segment family SUV with all-wheel drive, an 86.4 kWh battery and a range of up to 528 km; and the BYD HAN, an elegant and sporty E-segment saloon, with all-wheel drive and an 85.4 kWh battery that allows it to cover up to 662 km. All three models feature the renowned Blade Battery, a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that uses no cobalt and offers greater safety, resistance and durability compared with traditional batteries.

BYD also stands out for the platform used in its models, the e-Platform 3.0, a scalable platform that integrates the Blade Battery into the chassis structure, a battery that promises much on the market and which Tesla is undergoing testing due to its good performance. This platform stands out for its high structural rigidity and its improved safety in the event of a collision, but it also lowers the centre of gravity to enhance dynamism, reduces overall weight, allows lower body configurations with better aerodynamics, shorter overhangs to make the most of the interior space, and greater freedom in body design. The BYD ATTO 3 was the first SUV from the brand to use this platform and has achieved a 5-star rating in the EuroNCAP safety tests.

BYD is the only car manufacturer that designs and manufactures the complete system of electric motors, batteries, electrified transmissions, control units and semiconductors.

Globally, 2022 was another record sales year for BYD, with registrations of 1,868,543 new energy vehicles, including fully electric and plug-in hybrid models. In 2023, the brand is preparing to achieve even better results with the launch of its products in the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and soon in other countries that will join the European markets where BYD already operates, such as Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Belgium.
