Cadillac XT5 and CT6, two new Cadillacs to conquer Europe

For many years, Cadillac was one of those brands we saw in American films and series. Powerful, elegant cars like the Europeans never were, which gave their drivers wonderful and marvellous adventures. Luckily, reality always surpasses fiction, and the brand has also arrived in Europe, giving us the chance to drive one of these marvellous cars. Now, the American brand presents two models to carve out a place on our continent.

The first of them is the luxury saloon CT6, which sets out to steal a slice of the pie currently dominated by the Mercedes S-Class, the BMW 7 Series and the Audi A8, its natural rivals in these markets. The spectacular bodywork of this model hides a single option for buyers: a twin-turbo V6 petrol engine with 411 CV of power and 555 Nm of maximum torque.

These figures allow it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and it has a top speed of 240 km/h. It also offers a consumption of 9.6 litres per 100 km, with emissions of 218 g/km. In the German market, the first to receive these two models, it will start from a price of 73,500 euros, although the top of the range will reach 94,500 euros, with all the equipment made available to the buyer.

An American-version crossover

Alongside this model will come the XT5 crossover, which will also have a single engine option, a 3.6-litre V6 that delivers 309 CV and a maximum torque of 369 Nm, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. In this case, it reaches 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h. Its consumption is rated at 10 litres per 100 kilometres and emissions of 229 g/km.

Cadillac’s expectations are to beat the Audi X5, and it has set a price for its model of 48,800 euros. We will learn more about pricing in other markets in September, so we will be keeping an eye out and will bring you more information about these models once summer is over. In the meantime, you can take a look at the image gallery accompanying this article to see what these two American cars have to offer.
