Cadillac XT5, the American interpretation of the luxury mid-size SUV

Cadillac has begun revealing details of what will be one of the most important models in its range in the coming years.
We’re talking about the XT5, a model that replaces the current SRX, completely new and intended to become one of the benchmarks of the American brand.
The XT5 is also the model that launches a new product line, the XT family, short for “Crossover Touring”, which will include several SUV-style models. In the coming years, models will arrive both below and above this XT5 that the American firm is presenting today.

The XT5 features an imposing design, with angular lines—a signature of the brand—yet compact. The car itself seems to be made from a single piece, giving a sense of robustness. The front stands out for its vertical light units, as well as the chrome grille, which is very large.
At the rear we again find taillights with an elongated appearance and LED technology. It is already part of Cadillac’s personality, one of those details that make it fully recognisable as such. The interior stands out for its quality, with premium materials—leather, wood, aluminium—spread throughout the cabin.
A complete technological load for safety is also included, with lane change assist, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, high beam assist and traffic sign recognition. Mechanically, the XT5 will be offered with two engines. The first is a 2.0 Turbo four-cylinder that will deliver the best consumption and emissions figures in the range. It will be aimed mainly at markets such as China, with a high tax burden.

The second, more in line with American tastes, will be a 3.6 V6 with 310 CV. It will feature technologies designed to improve fuel economy, such as automatic cylinder deactivation. Both engines will be paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The XT5 will enter production in spring 2016.
