The first autonomous Nissan has received the first Japanese licence plate for autonomous vehicles. Starting with the first Nissan models, the new Leaf will begin trials, capable of performing some driving tasks on their own, such as lane changes and automatic stops.
Volkswagen is working on a new family of VR6 engines, due in a couple of years and aimed at its highest-performance models. Keeping the defining features of the original VR6, such as its “narrow V” architecture, power output is expected to be at least 350 CV.

Nissan has finished developing the Nissan Leaf, one of the first electric cars on sale to the public, and is already preparing the next step: developing autonomous car technology. The goal is to have several models ready by 2020, and research has already begun with 23 universities in Japan, Russia and the USA.

El Nissan Leaf ha sido el vehículo de pruebas usado para que la marca presente su reciente escáner láser, un sistema de seguridad que permite al coche reaccionar por si solo ante situaciones de peligro en el tráfico urbano y por carretera. El sistema consta de un escáner que puede controlar la distancia lateral, atravesar con seguridad una intersección o la detección de obstáculos.
Chevrolet acknowledges that the Corvette Stingray could eventually incorporate some form of Start/Stop, given increasingly strict US fuel economy regulations. For now, the Corvette offers a cylinder deactivation system for highway driving, turning the V8 into a V4 with a homologated consumption of 8.1 L/100 km.
Volkswagen has decided to further refine its EcoFuel technology with the launch of its natural gas-powered models, the TGI. The new TGI engines will debut in the Volkswagen Golf, but could be extended to more models from the brand, including those from Audi, Skoda and Seat.
They will replace the current eight powertrains to simplify the range with more efficient options. They are based on a two-litre four-cylinder block that will cover power outputs from 120 hp to over 300. The diesels will incorporate the new i-Art injection technology.
