Caterham is going electric with a new two-seater arriving in 2026
Although it will still take a few years to arrive, the British brand is preparing an electric two-seater that aims to follow in the footsteps of the Seven.

We already know that Caterham’s proposals are very interesting and bring us some original sports cars. But the British brand wants to go further and is preparing a new project that is going to be very interesting. There is still nothing official about what we are going to see in this new model, but some of the details are already leaking out, which will become reality in a project set to see the light of day in 2026.
The new model will move away from the well-known Caterham Seven and will become the brand’s first electric model. Although the brand assures that it will build cars with combustion engines until 2034, approaching the limit permitted by the European Union for the sale of this type of vehicle.

According to the brand, this new model will have everything expected of a Caterham. That is, it will be lightweight, simple, agile and have outstanding performance. It will keep the steel structure already seen on the Seven, which is easy to modify during production if necessary, but this will feature significant changes.
As for the bodywork, it will feature six panels made of aluminium or carbon fibre. According to Bob Laishey, Caterham’s CEO, the model should launch without power steering, ABS or airbags, to maintain the brand’s original spirit, but this has been ruled out in accordance with current safety legislation.
Although not much has been specified about Caterham’s electric model, the brand says that this new car will be built in a new factory and with a higher production volume than the Seven. Production remains only a possibility, but the brand’s owner, the Japanese company VT Holdings, is keen to give the project the green light as soon as possible, so we won’t have to wait long to learn more details about the project.
