Chevrolet could make another push in the rest of the world with the future mid-engined Corvette
Chevrolet continues developing one of its last and most anticipated creations, the mid-engined Corvette, a model that could be sold on a global scale

Rumours of a mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette were swirling through the media, but these were confirmed with a series of very obvious test mules. Now the rumours have resurfaced with the possibility that the American brand will sell its supercar par excellence in the rest of the world, not just any model. In this way, Chevrolet would be adding fuel to the fire of the war being waged in the supercar segment, since it would face a tough rival for European brands.
The Chevrolet Corvette has always shown a strong personality, being the king of muscle cars, but the American brand has decided to completely change its traditional configuration to take on other vehicles. Let us recall that the Corvette has been characterised by a powerful engine at the front that sends all its power to the rear axle, but now we are looking at a completely new and revolutionary idea.
European supercars have always enjoyed a good overall balance thanks to their weight distribution and, although the Corvette has improved to become a very effective vehicle, Chevrolet has wanted to accentuate this aspect. Now, with the engine in the rear, the muscle car will rival its main competitors more directly, and will allow potential customers of this type of car to have a very interesting option.

The American brand would directly compete with models such as the Audi R8, Lamborghini Huracán or Ferrari 488 GTB, three models with a very similar mechanical architecture. At the same time, Chevrolet can keep the V8 engine that powers the Corvette everyone knows, which is capable of generating 466 CV of power and 630 Nm of torque in one of its entry-level variants.
For now we do not know more details, but there is also the possibility that the American brand will offer different engines and power levels for its mid-engined Corvette. On the other hand, the fact that Chevrolet is planning to introduce its supercar par excellence to the rest of the world could be a sign that the brand is returning with its full range of models.

We will soon learn more details about this innovative variant of the Chevrolet Corvette, which is coming to revolutionise the segment and make things difficult for its European rivals. It could be at the next Geneva Motor Show that the mid-engined Corvette is unveiled, whose name we still do not know but which will most likely be sold worldwide.
