Alfredo Vila, managing director of Citroën Automóviles España, held a press conference to review 2009 and lay out the plans for the coming years for the French brand in our country. In particular, the executive described 2009 as a year “to forget” and said 2010 would see the company “continue to invest in the future”.

We are at the head of the market, we maintain a historic leadership in commercial vehicles, and our market penetration is greater than last year, with around 105,000 vehicles registered

He also took the opportunity to highlight Citroën’s support for the Spanish automotive industry: just while the press conference was taking place, the vehicle number 10 million from the company, a C4 that he said “would be driven by a Spanish customer”, rolled off the production line at the company’s plant in Vigo.

Regarding the future of the company, he naturally focused on remaining leaders (everyone in this sector claims to be a leader, there is always some statistic to justify saying so) in respect for the environment: in 2010 an engine with emissions below 100 g/km will be launched, the HDi 90, along with the second-generation Start&Stop system, and at the end of the year the Citroën C-Zero, a fully electric Citroën.
