Citroën has a new Coupé SUV, the Basalt Vision, although initially only for India and South America
Citroën reveals the first images of the Basalt Vision, a new compact Coupé SUV with an attractive design aimed at the Indian and South American markets, where it will go on sale in the second half of this same year.

The trend for SUVs with a coupé body has taken deep root, and more and more brands are offering cars of this type, trying to keep the “crossover” look and the rugged image of SUVs while, at the same time, providing a sense of dynamism and sportiness, without giving up the practicality and versatility of a body that sits higher than that of a passenger car. Now it is Citroën that adds a variant of this type to its range, the new Citroën Basalt Vision.
The “bad” news is that, in principle, it is a model developed and produced locally for the Indian and South American markets, where it will join the C3 and C3 Aircross from the second half of 2024, when it will go on sale. A shame, because its design, somewhere between the C4 X and the C3, has everything needed to succeed in markets like ours too. Especially if it keeps the “low-cost” spirit with which this car aims to be an alternative in emerging markets.

For now there is no further data on dimensions or the mechanical range, although as the third model in the programme the brand calls “C-Cubed”, alongside the C3 and C3 Aircross, to keep growing in these markets, it uses the same “Smart Car” platform. It is a pity that, at least for now, we will not see it in Europe.
