Citroën Tubik Concept

What would the motor shows be without the PSA Group presenting some futuristic concept? I imagine you’ll agree with me that when Peugeot or Citroën unveil a vehicle of this kind, it is to draw attention. And the Tubik Concept is no exception, although with some reservations.

The Tubik is a kind of van that pays tribute to the Citroën Tub, a utility model that was quite famous in France for many years. This future version is more functional than its predecessor, since there is now room for nine passengers, including the driver, who is “wrapped” and isolated from the passengers.

The front row of seats can swivel backwards, facing the occupants of the rear seats, while the central row of seats can turn into a table. And if all the seats are folded down, a bed is created. The truth is that this seating arrangement had already been seen in other models (well, except for the bed), but what stands out most is the distinctive design of the Tubik.

Passenger access is made easier by a gull-wing flank, since the entire side of the Tubik lifts up. The driver’s door is similar, though not as spectacular.

What I’m not so sure about is the design: seen from the side, the front looks as though it were inside another vehicle, although the front is precisely not the most attractive part of the Tubik… I think the concept loses a lot in its eagerness to pay homage to the original Citroën Tub, but it gains one more supporter in promoting once again the Hybrid4 powertrain that the Tubik features.
