Citroën will manufacture its low-cost models in Vigo
Good news for the production plant of the PSA group in Vigo, currently the largest in Western Europe. The French group wants to produce in this plant, with an investment of around €1,000 million, the models aimed at developing countries, in direct competition with Dacia.
Vigo has won the race over the plants in Turkey and Poland, its main rivals in terms of size and competitiveness. These models, internally named the M3 and M4, will be manufactured with the aim of selling them at low cost in developing countries.
The news also states that the Vigo plant would manufacture the new version of the Citroën C4 Picasso, in addition to the electric versions of the Citroën Berlingo and Peugeot Partner commercial vehicles, which are currently made in Vigo. More than 50 years in operation for a production plant that seems to have its future guaranteed.
As for the models to be sold, it would not be surprising if they also end up in our country, as has happened with the Dacia Logan. Not only Eastern Europe and North Africa have a demand for decent, affordable cars.
