Citroën will present the Metropolis, specially created for China

There is no doubt that every concept from Citroën is a true design spectacle, both inside and out. Moreover, China is the reference market, overtaking others when it comes to presenting novel concepts that seek to build a foundation for the future. This is the case of the Citroën Metropolis, conceived by Citroën’s international design team based in Shanghai since 2008.

The Metropolis is a fairly large saloon (5.30 m x 2 m x 1.40 m) with a rather imposing exterior style, and to accentuate its dimensions, a very distinctive chrome trim runs along the upper part of the side windows, which stretches the cabin visually while also protecting the privacy of the passengers in the rear seats.

Without a doubt, the front of the Metropolis is what draws the most attention, with a laminated grille shaped like a “comet” and a very elaborate design. The sharp headlights framing it give the whole ensemble even more presence, creating a sense of power that may not even be found in saloons from other brands that are more accustomed to offering this type of vehicle.

As this is a luxury saloon, the space devoted to passengers is very generous, and the interior has been designed inspired by the Chinese stringed instrument known as the “Gu Zheng” fan, which in the Asian country represents the cultured gentleman. The rear end is crowned by a rear window finished with an active spoiler and rear lights shaped like overlapping wings.

Regarding engines or fuels, Citroën has not mentioned anything, although there is still time before it is presented at the French pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo, which will run from 1 May to 31 October 2010.
