Clarkson and co. caught in Israel

The Top Gear guys were recently spotted driving through the streets of New York with three supercars (Ferrari 458 Italia, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and Porsche GT3 RS). Now these photos have surfaced, taken during filming in Israel, which could be part of a special Top Gear edition for Christmas. A kind of tribute to the Three Wise Men, but riding in cars instead of camels.

Judging by the images, this new adventure seems to revolve around the premise of taking a two-seater roadster and preparing it for some kind of rally across Jordanian and Israeli territory. The result will surely be as outlandish as you can imagine.

The cars in question are a BMW Z3, driven by James May, decorated as if wearing an army camouflage suit; a Fiat Barchetta, driven by Richard Hammond, with a muddy front end and a dry tuft of grass under the windscreen wiper; and a Mazda MX-5, driven by Jeremy Clarkson and decorated in many colours with a hookah installed on the driver’s door.

If this really is a special Christmas edition, we’ll have to wait just over a month. If, on the other hand, it’s an adventure to be included in series 16 of Top Gear, we’ll have to hold on until well into January 2011. In the meantime, here are some images and a video of these three modern and very unusual Wise Men on their journey through these historic lands.
