Crashes his brand-new MX-5 just after leaving the dealership and Mazda swaps it for another one

Some stories, even if they don’t look like it at first, have a very happy ending for their protagonists.

That is the case we bring you here today, that of a lucky owner of one of the first Mazda MX-5 NDs, who suffered a serious accident in it just a few metres after leaving the dealership.

The Mazda MX-5 has been completely renewed with the arrival of a new generation, the fourth already, which will be sold worldwide, recovering the essence of the first Miata: lightness, build quality, simple engines and lots of fun behind the wheel.

That is why, since its presentation, the small Japanese roadster has earned enormous critical acclaim in every market, something particularly noteworthy considering that it had not yet reached dealerships.

In the US, the waiting lists to get hold of one of the first Miata units are endless, but the story of the SCSM member of the Miata Forum deserves to be told. Together with his wife, this good man went to the Tom Bush Mazda dealership to pick up his brand-new red unit.

Just a few metres after leaving the dealership, a pick-up truck violently hit them from behind in what turned into a chain collision that left the little Mazda crushed at both the rear and the front. A total loss, and with the car’s insurance not yet fully processed.

The poor owners, although fortunately they were in perfect condition, went home plunged into total disappointment, a disappointment that turned into overwhelming joy when, two days later, they received a call from Mazda North America informing them that a new one would be theirs, and that it would arrive at the same dealership in about a month.

Luck has smiled on this American couple, who will get to debut (for the second time) an MX-5, enjoying it -hopefully for longer- this small roadster capable of making you step out with a smile on your face no matter how short the drive has been.
