CUPRA Ateca: new 190 hp TSI version, more affordable

The well-known Cupra Ateca has been one of the brand’s most outstanding models; it was the first to introduce the luxury range of Seat alongside the TCR, its first competition model. Now, five years after its launch, the brand has announced updates to this SUV model that are presented as a more accessible option, offering high performance and a high level of technological equipment. Until now, the version offered in Spain has produced 300 hp, with a 2.0-litre engine, a block paired with an automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.

The Seat brand is ready to bring these updates to this model in Spain, which positions it as a good more affordable crossover solution than the previous one, thanks to its new 190 hp engine that can already be chosen from its catalogue. This new version of the CUPRA Ateca, with its new range of engines and equipment, is already accepting orders, and will go into production in September 2023. Alongside these novelties, the brand has also announced the price of these versions: the 190 hp version starts at an initial price of 45,760 EUR, and the 300 hp version is priced at 55,170 EUR.

New petrol engine for the Ateca

The CUPRA Ateca now arrives with a new 2.0 TSI four-cylinder engine producing 190 hp (140 kW) with a seven-speed DSG gearbox and 4Drive all-wheel drive, which joins the 300 hp (221 kW) TSI, also with DSG and 4Drive. Kai Vogler, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at CUPRA: “With the new engine range, our ambition is to increase sales of the CUPRA Ateca, following the same trajectory as the CUPRA León.”

This engine allows the car to reach 100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds and a top speed of 212 km/h, with an average fuel consumption of 7.7 – 8.4 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions of 176 – 192 g/km according to the WLTP cycle.
