CUPRA chooses Hankook to equip the new iON evo SUV sporty tyres
Hankook’s engineers have created a tailor-made tyre for the CUPRA Tavascan, combining energy efficiency, durability and an aerodynamic profile that reduces noise and improves range
The CUPRA Tavascan, the new electric coupé SUV from the Spanish brand, already features tyres designed specifically to enhance its sporty character and maximise its performance. Hankook has developed the iON evo SUV, a premium tyre that promises an electrifying driving experience without sacrificing comfort. After 1.5 years of joint development with CUPRA, these tyres are designed to deliver dynamic and quiet driving, with particular attention to energy efficiency and noise reduction.
The new Hankook iON evo SUV tyres are available in sizes ranging from 19 to 21 inches, and even offer a 21-inch sporty variant called “e-Performance“, designed to maximise traction and shorten braking distance. Thanks to the use of High Grip compounds, these tyres are perfectly suited to the needs of electric vehicles, offering high durability and quiet rolling behaviour, which translates into greater range per battery charge. In addition, the 19-inch variant is also available as an all-season tyre option, designed for those seeking versatility in any climate.

One of the most notable aspects of the Hankook iON evo SUV is its ability to reduce rolling noise to levels below 66 decibels, achieving a driving experience quieter than originally planned. This is partly due to Opti Pitch technology, which optimises the number and size of the tread blocks to minimise the noise generated while rolling. This advance allows occupants of the CUPRA Tavascan to enjoy unmatched acoustic comfort, a key factor in electric vehicles that produce no engine noise.
Design focused on maximising range
The tyre has been designed with a focus on energy efficiency, a crucial point for electric vehicles. The tread compound, with a high silica and natural resin content, provides greater durability and reduces abrasion, while the high proportion of vegetable oils makes these tyres more sustainable. In addition, the aramid fibres used in their construction help better manage the deformation forces generated by the high torque of the CUPRA Tavascan, especially during sudden acceleration. The optimised aerodynamics, including the details of the sidewall markings, also contribute to greater efficiency.

Safety and comfort with SEALGUARD® technology
Hankook has equipped the iON evo SUV with SEALGUARD technology®, an innovative protection system that automatically seals punctures of up to five millimetres in the tread, allowing drivers to continue their journey without having to stop. This represents a significant improvement in safety and eliminates the need to change the wheel in dangerous situations.
