Dacia Spring Electric Concept: the cheapest electric car in Europe

The Dacia Spring Electric is presented as a prototype, but it previews what the first electric car from Dacia will be like, going on sale in early 2021

Dacia also joins the electric offensive. And it does so by announcing its first electric car with this concept car, the Dacia Spring Electric Concept. A car that, as you can see in the images, is based on the Renault City K-ZE for the Chinese market, with some exterior modifications.

And the synergies had to arrive. Now, Dacia, which in 15 years has increased its sales to 6.5 million units worldwide thanks to models such as the Logan, Sandero and Duster, will take advantage of the experience of Renault of more than 10 years in electric mobility to bring to market an electric car with the Dacia philosophy: above all, simple and with low maintenance, but also affordable.

In fact, the Dacia Spring Electric could position itself as the most affordable electric car on the European market. At least among those that require a driving licence, since the new Citroën AMI is nothing more than a quadricycle, a car that can be driven without a licence.

Urban SUV with 200 km of range

Intended for mainly urban use, this small SUV, barely 3.73 metres long, will settle for a range of around 200 km according to the WLTP cycle.

The engine should be the same as that of the City K-ZE, although in the case of Dacia both the power and the battery capacity could be reduced, whereas in the Renault model for the Chinese market they reach 33 kW (45 CV) and 30 kWh respectively.

The prototype is presented in an appealing pastel grey colour, with orange contrast elements on the wheels and the grille, mirror housings, wheel arches and door handles. According to the brand, the double Y formed by the full LED headlights anticipates the design of future Dacia models.
