Daihatsu D-X: the car that can be turned into four cars
The Tokyo Motor Show will also feature the presentation of the Daihatsu D-X, a concept that can take four different body configurations, thanks to its special polymer compound.

Toyota has loosened the reins a little for Daihatsu, and the small Japanese company will unveil a novel concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, the Daihatsu D-X. The novelty of this small vehicle is that it can be modified to the point of becoming four different models.
The modifications can be achieved by changing parts of the bodywork, since its composition is based on a thermoset polymer similar to plastic. The modifications turn the D-X into a roadster, a shooting brake, a two-door crossover or a sporty convertible, according to the user’s preference.
The D-X would be powered by the latest engine from the brand’s engine department: a two-cylinder, 0.6-litre engine with direct injection and a turbocharger, no less. Digging a little deeper, we see that this engine is offered in a couple of vehicles on Daihatsu’s Japanese market and produces 63 horsepower at 4,500 RPM.
While we wait for more details on this Daihatsu D-X, we leave you some photos below, showing all the changes the D-X can have.
