Discover the Baojun E100, the cheapest electric car on the market... Chinese
The cheapest electric car on the market has just launched in the Chinese market, through GM’s joint venture in the Asian country

The Chinese market is about to discover the cheapest all-electric car on the market. It is the Baojun E100, a small city car that will reach the market thanks to the joint venture of General Motors, SAIC-GM-Wuling, and is inspired by the Smart For Two Electric Drive. This means it is a manageable car, one that cannot be asked for great feats, but that will allow you to get around with ease and comfort in the city.
This car will not be available in more countries, but Chinese buyers who want to enjoy it will be able to purchase it for 35,800 yuan, which at current exchange rates is roughly 4,520 euros. This price effectively makes it the cheapest electric car in the world. But for this price, what does this Chinese car offer us? To begin with, it has a motor that delivers power equivalent to 40 CV and a maximum torque of 110 Nm, so we cannot expect much speed.

Despite this, the car is capable of reaching a top speed of 100 km/h, and they state that its lithium-ion battery, of which not much more information has been offered, can be recharged in about 7.5 hours and provides a range of around 155 kilometres. The front and rear suspension is single-arm, with an electronic brake force distribution system, anti-lock brakes, electric power steering, a pedestrian alert, an electronic parking brake, parking sensors and ISOFIX anchorages for child seats, quite an interesting level of equipment for the price and size of the car.
Inside, two adults can sit, and they have at their disposal the information and entertainment system with a 7-inch screen with Wi-Fi. This is in the basic model, while the higher version, called Zhixiang, adds a touchpad, air filter and keyless access. Baojun has been operating in China for some time and has already launched the SUV models 510 and 560 and the compact and estate 310.
