Donkervoort D8 GT, production begins

This car was unveiled last year at the Geneva Motor Show as a new concept from the Dutch company Donkervoort, known for its range of sports cars inspired by the Lotus Seven chassis over the last three decades.
The D8 GT in its production version keeps the mechanicals of the concept shown in 2007 (a 1.8L Audi engine with a maximum output of 270 CV), but a consistent upgrade to the braking system matched to the car’s performance is mentioned.
The most significant changes are visible on the exterior, as the roof structure has been changed to a stronger one and a longer wheelbase is noticeable, although it retains the front-frame design.
50 units will be built per year at an approximate price of 90,000 euros, with first deliveries due to start in August.
The difference in performance between the concept and the production version lies mainly in the use of carbon fibre, which achieves an impressive weight of 680 kg. Without doubt, it is a machine designed to deliver plenty of adrenaline.
